  • Cubes are small, cloudy, or hollow

    That is almost always the water side, not the refrigeration side. Scale on the evaporator, a partially blocked distribution tube, a failing water pump, or a filter nobody has changed in a year all reduce how much water actually reaches the freezing surface.

  • It runs constantly but the bin never fills

    Long cycles with low yield point at heat rejection or at scale. A condenser packed with kitchen grease, a machine wedged into a hot closet with no clearance, or a badly scaled evaporator will each stretch cycle time until production falls behind the floor.

  • The ice tastes or smells wrong

    Ice picks up whatever is in the water and whatever is growing in the machine. A spent carbon filter, biofilm in the sump, or a drain siphoning back are the usual three, and all of them need a real cleaning rather than a rinse and a wipe.

  • The harvest cycle sticks and the machine freezes up

    When a slab will not release, the machine keeps freezing on top of it. Hot gas valve faults, a failed harvest sensor, a rough or scaled evaporator surface, and low water level all cause it, and the machine will keep hammering itself until somebody shuts it off.

  • Water is pooling behind or under the unit

    Leaks come from split inlet lines, a cracked sump, a blocked drain, or a bin door that no longer seals. Any of them is worth a same-week call, because a slow leak under a machine becomes a slip hazard and a mold problem well before it becomes a repair.
